The LIFE Ammonia Trapping project (funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme), in which INDEREN participates, has come to an end. On 24 and 25 September, the final online closing conference was held to present the outcomes of the project, where the project partners of the LIFE Ammonia Trapping exchanged experiences with the national and international experts in environmental management and livestock waste.
On 25 September, Ricardo Romaguera, the CEO of the INDEREN company, attended the second online technical conference of the LIFE Ammonia Trapping’s final event “New environmental solutions and technologies promoted by European funds”. INDEREN (Ingeniería y Desarrollos Renovables, S.L.) has been the company responsible for the engineering design of the prototypes.
Ricardo commented: “Within the LIFE Ammonia Trapping project, we have been in charge of the design, installation, maintenance and transportation to the indicated sites of the two prototypes of ammonia capture: in the atmosphere and liquid form”.
About the experience acquired during the project, Ricardo said: “One of the challenges was to design the pilot plants, since we started from laboratory prototypes that used very small volumes and we had to scale them up to volumes of thousands of litres. And we had to redesign the entire hydraulic system of the liquid prototype in order to scale up the process to a pilot plant”.
Ricard concluded: “To this day, we keep on developing and improving the technology used in LIFE Ammonia Trapping, so as part of a post-project action, we will install the prototypes in La Vall d’Uixó (Castellón, Spain)”.
The second and last of the online conference on the occasion of the closure of the LIFE Ammonia Trapping project concluded with a live roundtable discussion session open to questions from the public.
